The Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission in partnership with ZADHR on Tuesday November 9, 2021 made a donation to the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services to assist in the fight against COVID-19 in detention centres.
The items, which were sourced from ZADHR, included four 5 000-litre water tanks, 4 water pumps and fittings, infra-red thermometers, surgical masks, reusable branded face masks, face shields, boxes of latex gloves, 800 single units of soap and hand sanitisers.
ZHRC executive secretary Delice Mazambani (in black costume) handed over the donation to ZPCS Deputy Commissioner-General Social Ndanga
ZADHR salutes the great partnership with the ZHRC.
ZADHR believes engagement and partnership are the future as the organisations seeks to build strong institutions that are responsive to emerging health and human rights challenges. Covid-19 is one such challenge.
The organisation hopes that the support extended to ZPCS through ZHRC will go a long way in enhancing access to water, sanitation and hygiene in prison settings.
